This fall, we’re spicing and leveling up our nutrient profiles with the great pumpkin. From navigating your way through a corn maze to catching some waves, our Fall Specials are sure to energize your autumn activities.

Protein

There’s nothing like that feeling of catching a gnarly wave to start the day, so let’s power up! Protein is a macronutrient and consists of amino acids, the building blocks of life. From improving muscle mass and strength to repairing cell damage, and powering the body, protein is a must. Did you know half of amino acids are considered essential nutrients, meaning they can only be consumed through food? These include threonine, valine, tryptophan, isoleucine, leucine, lysine, phenylalanine, methionine, and histidine. Our fall favorites offer key ingredients like pumpkin flax granola to pack all the essential amino acids needed to fuel the day.

Speaking of protein, we may have found the culprit for loving all things fall. All jokes aside, pumpkins are loaded with the mood-boosting amino acid, tryptophan, which converts to serotonin in the body. Serotonin helps to regulate mood and create a calm environment, optimal for days you can’t hit the shoreline. This key hormone can also help with sleeping and proper digestion. So if you find yourself feeling exceptionally happy while sipping the pumpkin pie smoothie, serotonin may be responsible.

Fiber

Pumpkins and apples are high in fiber which can regulate bowel movements, prevent blood sugar spikes, provide satiety, and support optimal gut health. Did you know the recommended intake of daily fiber is between 25 – 30 grams? The average American only consumes about 10 to 15 grams a day, leading to a major wipeout. It can be challenging to get enough fiber when your toes are always in the sand, but that’s what makes Playa a game changer. The scrumptious Pumpkin Protein Bites, Apple Turn Up, and Jack O Lantern Acai Bowls are packed with 10 grams of fiber each, offering a third of your daily needs. The nutritional benefits make these easy on-the-go options ideal for a thriving gut and beach day.

Micronutrients

Being a beach goer means tons of Vitamin Sea, but what about the other micronutrients? The Fall Specials are loaded with vitamins and minerals, including vitamins A and C. Pumpkins are rich in beta-carotene, a phytonutrient that gives these gourds a vibrant orange. Pumpkin offers 245% of the RDI for Vitamin A, pumping up the health benefits of these snacks. Once beta-carotene is converted to vitamin A in the body, it can play an important role in vision, bone growth, and immune system regulation.

Speaking of strengthening the immune system, Vitamin C is an antioxidant commonly found in Playa’s powerhouse. Vitamin C plays a crucial role in skin health, neutralizing harmful free radicals, and immune functioning. Fruits like pumpkin, apple, citrus fruits, and berries are rich in this water-soluble vitamin. We make it easy to pack in micronutrients with our versatile ingredients, leaving more time to ride the surf!

Don’t be a kook, instead add our Fall Specials to your Autumn bucket list! We look forward to nourishing your next adventure.
