Women’s History Month Spotlight: Ask Abby

Every March women around the world are celebrated as Women’s History Month takes over. What started as Women’s History Week back in the early 1980s, in only the United States, has now grown into a global movement and month-long celebration. Today, women of all backgrounds, religions, and colors are honored for their progress and contributions. We’ve come a long way! And one of the women we like to celebrate each year is our Co-founder and Chief Marketing Officer (CMO), Abby Taylor.

“I have learned so much working with Abby as my cofounder and watching her lead our employees….Abby has inspired me to grow as a leader and businessman. Also, how to adapt to certain situations I don’t believe I would have been able to do without her,” Co-founder Rob Giuliani.

Abby began Playa Bowls because she wanted to share the health benefits of açaí with everyone. And what began as a small acai stand in Belmar, New Jersey has now grown into a nationwide Playa Nation. Fun fact, she even hand painted all of our stores in the beginning (talk about true dedication to the company). Although she keeps the paintbrushes at home these days, Abby remains the key creative mind with all things Playa Bowls—she heads our marketing team, creates much of the content you love on our social media, and brainstorms ideas for new merch and crave-worthy products. She’s our true OG.
